For a canon update, is it possible for someone to have an item on them when they wake up?

For clarity, the point I'm looking at Mark is being treated for poisoning. The item would be a small jar (say 3 ozs) of an herbal remedy that the book doesn't specify what's supposed to be in it, so Mark couldn't describe it to anyone else.
